Surya Namaskar/Sun Salutation includes a set of 12 Asanas, which are placed in sequence. When we practice them, in addition to the benefits of the individual Asanas, Surya Namaskar:

  • Increases flexibility in spine, hamstrings, shoulders, hips.
  • Strengthens spinal muscles and shoulders.
  • Invigorates entire body.
  • Integrates movement of body, breath, and energy.
  • Helps awaken prana and bring it to the Brain; this enhances all mental functions and lifts consciousness.
  • Teaches one to combine self offering with surrender.
